  03/30/2026- A compound found in turmeric may help reduce inflammation and oxidative stress in people with prediabetes and Type 2 diabetes. In a recent paper published in Inflammopharmacology, Saint Louis University researchers and colleagues have found that curcumin, the main bioactive compound found in turmeric, could help reduce inflammation and harmful oxidative stress in people with prediabetes and Type 2 diabetes.

  SLU/YouGov Poll: Proposed Abortion Amendment Leads by 7 Points; Republicans Ahead on Generic Ballot

  03/17/2026- The February 2026 SLU/YouGov Poll surveyed 900 likely Missouri voters about their opinions regarding a proposed abortion amendment, state income taxes, data centers, and matters considered by the Missouri state government.

  02/23/2026- After studying the impact of first-generation antihistamines on elderly patients, Saint Louis University researchers are encouraging doctors to switch to the safer second-generation antihistamines.

  Three SLU Students Advance to Semifinalist Stage for Fulbright Grants

  02/16/2026- Saint Louis University’s Office of Competitive Fellowships and Scholarships has announced that three SLU students have been selected as semifinalists for the prestigious Fulbright U.S. Student Program. The semifinalists are Bridget Guerin, Lily McMorrow and Claire Pistono.

  02/03/2026- Amanda Izzo, Ph.D., associate professor of women and gender studies at Saint Louis University, has been awarded the Jane Dempsey Douglass Prize. The award honors the previous year’s best published essay on the role of women in the history of Christianity.

  The Academy of Science St. Louis to Honor SLU's Vasit Sagan at Outstanding St. Louis Scientists Awards

  01/27/2026- Saint Louis University researcher Vasit Sagan, Ph.D., a professor of geospatial science and computer science and associate vice president for geospatial science, will be honored by The Academy of Science - St. Louis with the George Engelmann Interdisciplinary Award for Collaborative Science Achievement.

  SLU Professor’s Book On Underground Urbanism Earns Major Anthropology Awards

  01/23/2026- Bruce O’Neill, Ph.D., professor of Sociology and Anthropology, has earned recognition for his book, Underground: Dreams and Degradations in Bucharest. The book won the Anthony Leeds Prize in Urban Anthropology and the William A. Douglas Prize in Europeanist Anthropology.

  SLU Research Shows Surge in Alcohol-Related Liver Disease Driving ‘Deaths of Despair’

  12/16/2025- Deaths from alcohol-related liver disease have surged in recent years, and the increase is hitting people without a college degree the hardest. While nearly every demographic group is seeing higher death rates—including those with college degrees—the gap between economically disadvantaged groups and more affluent ones is growing, according to new research.
